Where _Do_ You Want To Die

(a choice we all should make)

There's a great discussion point here - one about the fruitlessness of avoiding the unavoidable. I mean, isn't it a question we should all be talking about more often than we do? We all know that, one day, we're going to retire. If, when you asked someone what their plans for retirement were, and they replied, "I just don't think about it," you would say that's pretty irresponsible. There will be nervous, bad times as they try to catch up what should have been prepared for for 10 or 20 or 30 years in the span of a few short months.

So, again, the question.

Where do you want to die?

Given that it will happen. Oh, it might be a while. One hopes it will be a while. I certainly do. But - and this is the scary part - it might be sooner than you think.
It's a huge jump to make, mentally - we're all so encapsulated, so uniform in that we shouldn't be talking about death - but knowing that it is a reality... where would you want it to happen?
In a bed, old, surrounded by your progeny?
Alone, in a symbolic defiance?
Together, with an entwined heart and souls not to be parted by a mere signpost of life?

Think about what your life is right now. Enjoy it. Love it. Cherish it. Or, make it better. If you're not ready to answer the question, then do those things. Live life. Because you can ignore it or laugh at it, but the question will still be waiting. Wait long enough, and Death herself will answer it for you.
