Alive... It's Alive!!
(give... my creation... life!!!)
And I made it!
I have now joined the tonsili-less community. As a friend said, "Come on Mat... you know you want to... all the cool kids are doing it." This friend is the voice of Satan... but as I have a number of friends who are the voice of Satan, I went for it.
The procedure was more intense than you'd think, as I am now on day 10 and still feeling the effects. I've got about 90% of my voice and 60% of my solid food capacity, and my body is getting used to having things other than popsicles, ice cream, and pudding. The sizzling steak fajitias? Not a good idea.
But I am so happy to be back and getting healthier, instead of getting sicker. I absolutely detest the idea of getting the reputation of someone who is sick all the time - and all the major illness I've undergone since last January will now be behind me. No more tonsilitis - or at least, I won't be around my tonsils when it gets them. Excellent!
Time to catch up. I already got to have a great sit-down conversation with my roomates, which was a blast, and I cooked my specialty - pasta, sauce, and spinach leaves - for DW and I tonight, and it was a hit. I've got about 30 pounds to get back, so we're going out for some chewy chips ahoy. Oh, how I have missed solid food...
Next is to catch up with other friends. I got to hang out with Liam and Justin just before the operation, which was wonderful. Phone conversations with Margaret and Martin have been equally great, and a Luke-driven showing of Advent Children is in the works. I am delirious about the potential of that.
I guess the best part of this whole thing was the time I spent at home, as I got to hang out with my little bro and two little sisters a ton. I played Warcraft III (a great addiction) and Ping Pong Soccer with Mike; I got to hang out and talk shop with Groo; and I got to see Rosie for the first time home from college. I think she's handling it very well, a fact that makes me (I am surprised to find) proud.
If only my Penguins were doing as well.
No matter. We're on the upswing and getting healthier. Time to get some weight, talk to friends and live again!
